Remove myself from someone else's iPad

Sorry for the dumb question but I've never handled an iPad before and:

Someone let me borrow an iPad to use procreate, and they signed me in and set me up on the iPad with my Apple ID, etc. I need to return it and I absolutely do not want them having access to any of my data, like photos, contacts, texts, etc. I followed the instructions I found online to go to Settings > [ your name], scroll down, tap Sign Out, enter your Apple ID password, then tap Turn Off. That seems to have signed me out, but all my photos are still there.

Just double checking that if I now go to Settings>General>Erase All Content and Settings that it will just take my info off the iPad itself. Seems like a silly question, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, as there are a lot of photos of my late father in my Cloud and I'm grieving so I'm not thinking straight and don't want to accidentally delete them from my iPhone.

Thanks.

Apologies, I'm not very tech saavy and like I said I kind of need extremely simple directions right now because i'm in a brain fog.

I already followed the instructions to sign out and turn off the activation lock. I'm just double checking that if I now Erase All Content and Settings it will not erase my photos elsewhere and only on the iPad. I'm not transferring any data to any new devices, which that page has a lot of info on. I'm just getting rid of myself from this ipad.

I only ever logged into the ipad once, and it took all my data over from my phone. i signed out from my iphone about a month ago and it does not seem like it was syncing with any new data since then. I then signed out using the instructions you linked to to sign out from the ipad itself. I'm just double triple quadruple checking that if I Erase All Content and Settings at this point I am good to go without losing my data anywhere else.
