Can I update my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 17.6?

An iPhone 7 plus can't be updated beyond 15.8.2, it doesn't have the hardware required to run anything higher.

If you need a higher iOS version, you will have to purchase a newer phone.

• If you have an iPhone 5S or 6/6plus, the highest you can update to is 12.5.7

• If you have an iPhone 6S through 7, or SE 1st generation, you can update to 15.8.2

• If you have an iPhone 8 or X, you can update to 16.7.9

• If you have an iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), or XR through 15, you can update to 17.6. 1

If you have an iPhone 7 as your tag line suggests, you may need iOS 17.6, but you can't have it. iPhone 7 cannot be updated past iOS 15.8.3. If you need a higher version iOS for any app, then you'll have to buy a much newer, more modern iPhone.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that if you want to make UPI payments using an iPhone app, you will need to be running iOS 17 or later. You can thank NCPI (the developers of the UPI system), and possibly, participating banks.

The iPhone 7 Plus cannot update to iOS 16 or later, and NCPI's apparent decision to lock out iPhones that cannot update as far as iOS 17 does not change that. If you want to run UPI payment apps on an iPhone, you will need a newer iPhone.
