Sounds like a hardware issue—

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

I put external Mouse and Keyboard. The moment I plugged these two external devices, my own trackpad and keyboard started working and my laptop is working perfectly Alhamdolillah!!

As a precautionary measure I updated the Software to 17.6.1.

So, it was not a hardware issue but software sort of ‘stuck-up’.
