Should I be concerned that I am using an external monitor that charges my macbook pro all the time?

Hello,

I have an external monitor (ASUS ProArt PA278CV) connected to my MacBook Pro via USB-C, which also charges my MacBook while it’s connected. I’m wondering if I should be concerned about my MacBook being always plugged in and not using the original Apple charger. Could this setup affect my battery health over time?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

<< which also charges my MacBook while it’s connected. >>

that is NOT correct as written.

The display PROVIDES POWER to your Mac while connected. if the Mac wants that power, it uses that power to run.

--------

The CHARGER is deep inside your Mac, and Charges ONLY under program control, and only when needed. External power supplying devices can not 'Force Themselves' on your Mac -- your Mac is in control of exactly how much power at what Voltage is accepted. Your Mac will NEVER over charge.

it is not an accident that Apple calls that blocky item that plugs into the wall outlet a POWER ADAPTER, and NOT a charger.

<< I read before it’s recommended not to fully charge the battery to 100% (full cycle) >>

I am not sure what you are reading, but Mac charging is under control of Mac software. No external power supply can device can force itself on your Mac. No user intervention is required or desirable.

if you activate Battery Health Management, it will attempt to optimize for battery longevity. BUT: if you deeply discharge, that tells it you need more battery run-time. Then battery longevity will be set aside to provide enough run-time for your recent demand. Charging is based on your recent usage patterns, and will slowly adapt to how you use your battery.
