Echo on iPhone 14 during phone conversation

For the first several minutes of a phone conversation on my iPhone which is running up-to-date IOS, I hear a loud echo of my voice. The other party does not hear any echo. After several minutes, the echo quits although I have done nothing different.

How can I prevent this from happening?

iPhone 14, iOS 17
