PAGES = ePub output: encripted?

Hi

It seems that there are no Preferences settings for PAGES?

It appears as of PAGES generates encriped ePub files? How can I get it

top just do a regular Type 3 ePub eBook file?

Pages exports EPUB3 documents as zip containers renamed as .epub. That is the nature of a regular EPUB3 document.

In Pages on Ventura, the long-used Preferences pane has been renamed to Settings, and there is no user control over EPUB3 generation. Even the Pages Export panel for EPUB has limited choices.

EPUB3 documents are not encrypted and cannot be opened in a word-processing application afterward. They are designed to be viewed in Apple Books or another compatible book reader.

Do you have any problem reading your epub in Apple's books app? Or sending to the Apple Book store.

Have you contacted the outlet that thinks it's encrypted about the problem?

Here’s what’s happening…

1) generate a manuscript in pages

2) ensure all images are flowable

3) save out as an ePub file

4) upload to draft digital, and the system tells me that the ePub file is encrypted.

5) and while it will except the file, many outlets will not accept and file that is encrypted.

God forbid that Apple allows us to control the software…

OK, then what do folks recommend for a software package that will easily and quickly produce compatible .epub files for e-books?

Decide where you want to sell your book and see what they prefer.

For Apple Books, people normally use Pages without problems. For Amazon Kindle, they have

Word is accepted by a lot of places I think.
