just installed apple tv not using direct tv satellite. How do i record shows?

There is no option to record shows with an Apple TV 4K (or with any other similar streaming device such as Roku that I'm aware of).

VOD shows don’t have to be recorded. They’re available on demand anyways.

Live TV from TV providers may have their own “recording” options on their own servers through their own app.
