Trying to hook up an M1 Mac Air laptop to an LG DVD MODEL#GE24NU30 to read a CD. The laptop sees the drive but no software came up to access the disk.

HOOKED UP LG DVD DRIVE MODEL#GE24NU30 to an M1 Mac Air laptop, which recognizes the drive, but does not see the disk, or bring up any software to access it. Does anybody have any ideas?

The GE24NU30 is a very old, USB 2.0 DVD drive. Even the specs indicate the last version of macOS supported was 10.4.10 (OS X Tiger, 2007).


I suggest that you get an up to date DVD/CD drive. Here are a couple of suggestions:
