My iPhone 11 Pro crashes repeatedly since updating to iOS 17.6.1

Ever since installing this update, my phone crashes, very annoying when switching or opening any app, when i play a song or video and access any other app at the same time, it crashes. I do not have any major apps that could lead to this, but still this is happening. Anyone else facing the same issues? I'm confused if my phone is the problem or not as it never happened before this update.

Given it is an iPhone 11 it might be worth checking how much storage you have left in the phone, as an update takes up memory… so if you have less than 3GB left it might account for the crashes.

if that is the case then culling some of what is on the phone should remedy the issue, if you have plenty of room left in the phone, then you could get diagnostic from appl, who should be able to work out why

Good luck 🤞🏼

I updated my 15 Pro to 17.6.1 about a week ago. I started to notice some things. It started with videos on Facebook, X, and Instagram being glitchy and buffering. I originally thought it was my connection. Turns out it was not my Wi-Fi or connections at all. I could replicate the issues at various locations.

My issues are:

any video (downloaded, photos, or social media) do not play.

music does not play

videos online also do not play/ We tried the YouTube and Apple webpages; nothing worked.

I can make and connect a phone call. That call does not have any audio. Facetime calls also do not connect.

My battery was hot while charging in my car on Saturday.

After several hours on Saturday with Apple support (first text chat, then phone support), I was left with a phone that didn't work well. Apple phone support tried to reset to factory settings from a computer on Saturday (connected via cable). That reset failed. I then scheduled in-person support though the Apple Support app at a local Best Buy. Best Buy ran all the same diagnostics that the Phone Support did the day before; found nothing. Best Buy hard reset my phone to factory new; same issues (no video or calls). Later on Sunday afternoon, I reopened my case and spoke to a Apple Support Manager for 2.5 hours. She ran diagnostics, attempted to reset the phone again, and tried everything possible. The phone was still quirky with the same issues. She did say that "maybe it's Verizon" and I should speak to the also. The Apple Support Manager ended the call with sending report logs to Apple Engineering to review. The Engineering review could take 3-5 days. Grrr.

I did call Verizon and review all the settings. My Verizon settings were all perfectly fine.

Now I wait for several days until Apple Support gets the Engineering review of my phone's issues.

Same problem with my sons iPhone 11 pro, updated it to 17.6.1 and it started to get abit warm on the backside and then randomly reboot every 3-5 mins (even without opening apps)

Battery health is 100% and storage space 15GB.

While the power cable is in the phone is doesnt reboot though, but not really a "mobile" if you got to have a cable connected to it.

I had a problem with in app Wi-Fi after 17.6.1 update. YouTube videos wouldn’t play iMessage didn’t work at all. Finally, I realized that I had an unused, offloaded security APP on my iPad. I deleted it and everything started working again immediately! I couldn’t believe it. After a week and a half of talking to support and nothing working, this was the answer. Remember, even if you’re not using security/antivirus the APP alone can cause issues.

No. I am not having this issue.

My 13 mini is stuck in recovery mode, I get error 4013 when I connect to a MacBook to try and update it again and restore to factory settings is an unknown error. I took it to the Apple Store they did the same things I did then the guy said it needs a part that costs as much as the phone you need a new one. Did not offer any other troubleshooting and would not tell me what the part was. If I had to guess which I do because the Genius Bar isn’t I would say the memory is corrupted and security is not allowing iTunes to format or write to it. I can’t believe they do not have more advanced troubleshooting capabilities than what’s available to the end user? My phone was operating perfectly before the update after the update it started to glitch touchscreen and battery so I rebooted it and that was the last time it worked.

Error 4013:

Using a computer here, is what you would do to troubleshoot an iPhone in a Boot Loop(because an update stalled while in the process). Read my User Tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

Visit this Link: If you See Error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. It may be no more than a matter of using a new cable.

Yes my daughter iPhone 11 glitches fades has line split screen I still have warranty with Asurion, however they claim after 30 days of your replacement, you have an additional 11 months through AT&T AT&T claims I have have one year warranty with Apple and Apple says nope it’s in a Sherry I’m problem but basically they crashed all of the iPhone 11s. I would imagine if you have a 12 or 13 you probably also experience issues because they are getting rid of them and if you notice you can’t buy only one iPhone 14 and I think the iPhone 15 max and pro max and they’re about to drop the new iPhone 16 they won’t be supported much longer. Must upgrade iPhone
