Macbook connect to a monitor with less cables

I have a MacBook Air M1, and I want to connect it to my Dell P2423D IPS Monitor (23.8" QHD 2560x1440) using as few cables as possible. Currently, I'm using the official laptop charger, an HDMI cable to connect the laptop to the monitor, and the monitor's power cable to the wall outlet. Is there a way to connect the laptop to the monitor with just one cable, so I don't have to use so many cables?

That monitor has DisplayPort and HDMI inputs, and a built-in USB hub with four downstream USB ports. It does not have USB-C or Thunderbolt inputs. It cannot charge your laptop. Nor will the downstream USB ports be of any use unless there is an upstream USB connection to your computer (or to a hub/dock plugged into your computer).

Sounds like what you need is a USB-C or Thunderbolt dock that

  • Has its own power supply
  • Can provide charging power to your laptop using USB-C Power Delivery
  • Has a dedicated video port, a Thunderbolt daisy-chaining port, or a downstream Thunderbolt hub port where you can plug in a monitor or a USB-C (DisplayPort) to {DisplayPort, HDMI} adapter.

Other World Computing, SonnetTech, and CalDigit carry a number of Thunderbolt docks – and many vendors carry lower-end USB-C hubs/docks. (Assuming that you have only one monitor, look for a hub that provides video using your computer's native hardware-accelerated video output, not using some "workaround" like DisplayLink.)
