“iPhone required” error on child’s Apple Watch hearing aid app

I’m trying to download the free app Oticon Companion to Apple Watch that allows my child to connect and adjust hearing aids. It is a free app. However, when trying to download through the watch App Store “get” is greyed out and “requires iPhone” is displayed. I adjusted settings to the family account to do with screen time and Ask to Buy, as per other posts- but am still unable to download.

Are hearing aid apps inaccessible with an Apple Watch?

When you have a family members Apple Watch paired to your iPhone, certain apps require an iPhone to use. This ensures that both devices are using the same Apple ID and apps and services can sync and communicate between the two devices. Unfortunately, that app wont be able to work on your child’s Apple Watch, you can try looking for other ones without the iPhone required.
