Apple Pay keeps saying hold near reader but no matter what does not work
Why does this happen?

Are you authenticating using Face ID first, then holding near the transaction terminal?

What iPhone do you have? What iOS version is the iPhone on? Are you activating Apple Pay by double clicking the Home Button and then using Fingerprint ID to authenticate?

Have you tried it the other way, as I described? Do you have your iPhone in a case?
My phone does have facial recognition as it’s older. I tap my wallet, choose the card, then attempt to pay. Used to work. Now just tells me to hold closer to reader and does not give me any alternatives.
I did review article prior to posting here. As I said, used to to work, choosing card from wallet or double clicking. Will not stop saying hold close to reader.
