Keyboard shortcuts not working in Final Cut pro for ipad

Keyboard shortcuts (magic keyboard) are working only intermittently in Final Cut Pro for ipad. Have to quit the app and go back in to restore functionality. Very flakey behaviour and deeply frustrating. Maybe I’m missing something obvious?
