Video Clip in Mac Photos Changes Exposure

A question regarding video on Mac Photos app:  Video shots I've taken on my iPhone look normal when I play them back on my iPhone, but on my Mac Mini desktop they only look normal as a thumbnail. When I double click it to enlarge the clip, it suddenly bleeds to overexposure by about 2 stops and continues to play that way. My guess is, since it looks fine on iPhone and desktop thumbnail, that something's modifying it in the Photos app - but what?

Thanks!

Obviously you took HDR movie with the iPhone but your older Mac does not support it. You might want to disable HDR on the iPhone for now.

I had that scenario in my old iPad and for a while used Final Cut Pro to convert such HDR movies to SDR. But my new iPad supports HDR so that is no longer needed.
