[FIXED] disabling thumbnail side panel in pdf files while in markup mode

it seemingly used to be that the thumbnail scroller on the left hand side in Preview, when opening pdf files on the ipad, was impossible to hide. This had annoyed many left handed users.

However there is now a way to hide it! At the top left of the display pane when the pdf is open a page number box will be displayed e.g. 59/60. It's light grey in appearance. If you tap this, it will hide the left side panel for you. Ta'da!

No doubt others searching for ways to suppress the visible PDF this perceived problem will find your tip to be useful - and be worthy of an upvote. 🙂

As a side-note (pun intended) - having hidden the unwanted thumbnail-bar as described, for quick navigation through a multi-page PDF you can restore the thumbnail sidebar by reversing the process...

Simply tap the screen to expose the page number - then tap the page number itself to restore the thumbnail bar.
