You cannot swap your ancient iPhone 5s for a much more valuable iPhone 15. Nor, I believe, can you get any trade-in credit for it – though I believe that Apple will accept it for recycling.
You may want to wait to recycle the old phone until after you have set up the new phone – using backups of the old one, iCloud synchronization, and/or Quick Start.
