MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) Battery Indicator

Hi there,

I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) and the battery indicator (see image) never turns red when the battery is running low. This is quite annoying as the computer often turns off due to lack of battery without warning. Can anyone suggest some kind of reset so the indicator will turn red if the battery is running low?

Thanks

Chances are the battery is failing. Check to see if the battery condition is showing "Service Recommended" (assuming you are running macOS 10.15+) which would indicate the battery is either wearing out or actually failing. You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Unfortunately many times a battery may be starting to fail, but neither of these things will show a problem.
