I've just spent hours uploading CDs into iTunes on my HP laptop as my old iTunes library got mysteriously lost. They have been uploaded as audiobooks, with each track as a separate book. Is there a way to a)identify them as music b) group them back together as albums? And if I have to start again how can I make sure it doesn't happen again? I've lost most of a day already.....

Did you download any of Apple Music, Apple TV, or Apple Devices? That would be what induce the behavior of 1) Your iTunes library disappearing since it would move to Apple Music and 2) make new music added to iTunes show up as audiobooks.
My music CDs imported to iTunes as audiobooks. How do I fix this?
