cant connect to app store or safari couldnot establish secure connection

hello, i have macbook pro 13 inch 2012 model. Before i have catalina in my macbook but i want to sell it abd i tried factory reset through disk utility and installed mountain lion 10.8.5. there was ni option for catalina.


now my app store cant connect to internet and safari can’t establish secure connection.

i tried many things:

  1. deleting cache and all browser history of safari
  2. i tried google dns
  3. i tried changing my date and time followed by my location
  4. i tried allowing all certifications setting inside keychain

the main problem is i cant upgrade my macos.


i want to sell this laptop but i cant due to this issue.


can anyone provide me exact working solution coz i tried all tips provided in apple community

Since you want to sell it, follow these instructions: What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support. Follow them all the way to the end in which you are instructed to shut down the Mac after reinstalling OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) in your case.


Don't run the Setup Assistant. You're finished.


Excerpts from the above (with emphasis):


After reinstalling macOS, your Mac restarts to a setup assistant. Press Command-Q to shut down instead of continuing setup.


...


After resetting NVRAM, your Mac starts up to the setup assistant again. To leave the Mac in an out-of-box state, press Command-Q to shut down instead of continuing setup.
