I’m trying to reinstall osx mavericks on my 2009 iMac but it won’t let me sign in my Apple ID to redownload it. And when it does sign in it says it’s says the password is wrong or that the download can’t be completed. Is it the two step authentication that’s not allowing me to sign in? If so, anyway we can remove it temporarily so I can reinstall osx mavericks ???
If you need an older version of macOS, then why not macOS 10.10 Yosemite? It is available from official Apple servers outside of the App Store so no authentication is needed. macOS 10.11 El Capitan is also available this way as well. See this Apple article for details & instructions:

Apple does not offer macOS Mavericks for download or reinstallation at this time. It was possible several years ago but no longer.
