I have just purchased a tv series to Apple TV but am unable to AirPlay it to my television. Get message saying ‘this video is in a format that can’t be streamed to this TV’ can anyone tell me why that is?

To what TV brand and model TV are you trying to stream this? Is it listed as an AirPlay-enabled TV?
If your TV also happens to support the full Apple TV app, then consider using that instead. Your library content should be accessible there. Get the Apple TV app on your smart TV or streaming device - Apple Support

I am trying to airplay it through an Apple TV box to my Samsung from my iPhone and my iPad.
My tv does have the Apple TV app but I am not able to view my purchases on it.
