When I am using my iPad in a particular building at my church, my battery drains incredibly fast. Starting at 99% down to 43% within a couple of hours. This is a new issue, it has never happened prior to 2 weeks ago.

Do you perhaps have WiFi+Cellular model iPad - with an active Cellular plan?
If yes, and your iPad is being used in a location with marginal Cellular coverage, your iPad may be struggling to maintain its Cellular connection. In some cases, this situation can lead to higher than usual battery utilisation.
That’s so weird. I would suggest you to record a video and expose your issue in a Genius Bar
