Remove Tables/Grids in Text Edit?

Hi everybody, this might be a bit of a niche question but does anybody know if there is a way to get rid of invisible grids in text edit? For example if you copy text of Wikipedia and it’s in grid. On my last Mac (2016) there was an option in Text Edit to reset this to the default but it doesn’t seem to be available on my current Mac. Monterey 12.2.1. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

You should be able to use the "Paste and match style" operation. That will remove most external formatting.

You can also switch to plain text mode in TextEdit and that will remove all formatting.

If you only issue is TextEdit and Tables

Please disregard the following

Monterey 12.2.1. is a bit behind the times as in Released Feb 10, 2022

macOS Monterey 12.7.6 plus and update to Safari as a separate update

Can not say of this will or will not change how TextEdit functions

But at least the machine will be fully updated and current

Always make a Time Machine Backup  before doing any upDates
