This is very helpful and probably applicable for many people. Especially when this comment was made.

I have zero apps refreshing in background, it’s been at least 2 weeks since I updated my 14pro max.
I could tolerate the battery drain issue, except that the phone is getting so hot it stops charging. This has happened >5 times after update. I think over a…. Lot of years of iPhones for several household members I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had that problem. I have never had a significant complaint or problem with any automatic updates over 10+ years: 4 iPads, 4 MacBooks (pro/air), 8 (ish) iPhones?
I haven’t managed to download the update to the update (the second build). Will try that tonight. Maybe that helps the issue.
but just saying, I’ve literally never felt the need to come to the community to ask for info about a problem with any thing. And I came for THIS update. So yeah. It isn’t just the normal amount of stuff happening
