I'm unable to download apps on my MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina 10.15.7

My macbook pro keeps saying … cant be installed on “Macbook SSD” because macOS version 12 or later is required

it cant update further than macOS Catalina 10.15.7

If these are apps you previously purchased (and presumably were able to download before on 10.15 or earlier), then go to your purchased tab in the App Store and try to download them from there. That should cause the last compatible version to download.


If these are new apps you never purchased before then you are out of luck. Older versions of apps are occasionally available when updates are released that change the minimum OS version...but it tends to be rare and if the App Store throws an error then no dice.

Changes to macOS desktop browser requirements

The last supported version for users on macOS 10.13 High Sierra and 10.14 Mojave is Brave version 1.57.64 (find the Brave-Browser-universal.dmg file in the list) and Chromium 116. After Brave Browser updates to version 1.58 or higher, macOS users will need to upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina in order to receive new browser updates.
