I just updated my MacBook Pro M1 to Sonoma 14.6.1 and I noticed that I am no more able to enter the accents menu. I have a US layout keyboard but I often need to write in Italian and till this last update I haven't had any issue with the menu.

I do know uninstall third party Anti-virus esp Webroot resolves the issue for those running the 3rd party AV.
You can re-instate the accent mark lost, from terminal copy & paste:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true
reboot if necessary
