Apple id request won't quit

I get a request to sign in with my apple id ever day - every time I try to use it. I indicate 'not now' and it keeps popping up relentlessly - preventing me from using the phone! This is absolutely crazy.

I finally did when I had time, and "this apple id is locked". Jumping through more unwanted hoops, I was able to get here. Who has time for this??

You may have an app that was downloaded using a different account and is trying to update. It has to be done with that account. Delete the app and download it with your account. If you are not sure about which app, switch to manual updating of apps, one by one, until you see one asking for a different ID.
