My iPhone SE out of the blue displayed a “No sim” message and now my phone is in sos mode

I was about to get in the shower when i looked on my phone and noticed a notification stating “No sim” i’ve never experienced this before and have lost access to the mobile tab in settings, i’ve tried shutting down my phone and starting it up again but that didn’t work - does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it?

iPhone SE, iOS 17

Try re-seating the SIM card.

You will need a SIM tool or a paperclip to eject the SIM tray.

  1. Locate the SIM tray (It has a tiny pinhole on it - I believe on iPhone SE it is located under the power button)
  2. Push the SIM tool (or paperclip) into the hole on the side of the iPhone to eject the tray
  3. Pull the SIM tray out all the way and push it back in
  4. Check if cell service is restored
