No power cords fit my 9th gen IPad

I bought my daughter a 9th gen IPad last Christmas. The cord it came with, stopped working within a couple of months. We threw it out. The lightening connector was fine. The issue we’re having now is that any usb-c cord we purchase, will not fit into the iPad, it’s like it’s too large to even almost get in the little charging hole. I looked it up to make sure it didn’t take one of the older type chargers, but it said it is the C. I have a ton of usb-c’s in my home, not a single one even almost fits, it’s like trying to shove a bouncy ball into a tube of toothpaste…

Any help would be much appreciated!
