I just changed the sim i’m using on my iphone. But i can’t activate the number on facetime. What should i do?

When i change the sim on my iphone, i can’t use my facetime anymore. I already tried rebooting my phone and updating the phone number on my apple id, still it did not work. What should i do to be able to use facetime using my new phone number?

iPhone 13

You need to completely sign out of both, restart, and sign back in:

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Messages
  • If iMessage is off, turn it on
  • Tap Send & Receive
  • Scroll down until you see AppleID: and your Apple ID
  • tap your Apple ID
  • Tap Sign Out
  • Tap Messages at the top left to go back to the main Messages page
  • Tap Settings at the top left to go back to Settings

For FaceTime:

  • Tap FaceTime
  • If FaceTime is off, turn it on
  • Scroll down until you see AppleID: and your Apple ID
  • Tap on your Apple ID
  • Tap Sign Out

Now wait, about 15 minutes for the fact that you have signed out to propagate to the Apple servers.

Make sure your phone number in Settings/Phone is correct. Then sign back it to both.

Thanks a lot. These steps actually helped in making my facetime functional again. However, the new phone number was still not linked to facetime. But upon further search, it was actually the sim provider that had a problem with apple as there were numerous complaints i’ve read on reddit regarding the same issue i encountered. So i bought another sim from a different provider and everything works fine.
