Why won't my Mac go to sleep?
iMac Retina 5K 27-inch 2020; OS 12.3 Monterey 8 GB RAM.
For a long time this Mac refused to go to sleep. I tried a number of fixes, none of which worked, so I would simply lower the brightness of the screen to minimum before leaving the computer for more than an hour. But then, it started working! It was going to sleep normally! And then it reverted to it's "No Sleep" behavior. I have experimented with different "Turn Display Off after" time settings in the Energy Saver tab of System Preferences. I have unchecked all five checkable options.
I do have iStat Menus installed, as well as the Intego anti-virus software installed. Intego insists that their software does not interfere with sleep.
Any ideas about how I might solve this problem?
