why is my iPhone ringer on silent?

My iPhone ringer is silent. a red bell with a line through it shows up when I try to increase the volume.

The ringer is set to its loudest perhaps it sounds really low I have the ringer on my iPhone 15 to it’s loudest and still the ringer sound very low

Volume of ringer On my iPhone 14 every morning my ringer volume is turned all the down and if I forget to increase the volume, I can’t hear any calls or texts or news updates or emails etc….can someone point me in the right direction so I can fix this problem?

Check the mute switch along the edge of the phone (near the external volume controls). If orange is showing, it is muted.
