How do I sync reminders with Mail messages across my Apple devices?

I have 2 Mac minis (MacOS 14.5), and an iPhone 11 (iOS 17.5.1). All use the same Apple ID.

I create Reminders by dragging messages from within the Mail app to the Reminders app, or highlighting the Mail message title on the iPhone, and sharing with Reminders app. This is super-useful, as I can then click on a Reminder to take me straight to the Mail message that needs dealing with. Screenshot shows what it looks like when I drag a Mail message into Reminders on the Mac mini.

However, Reminders created on the iPhone no longer maintain the link to Mail messages when I click on the message icon in reminders to open them on either of the Mac minis. This used to work fine until a few months ago. I don't think I have changed any settings that would have altered this behaviour.

Very grateful if you have any suggestions about how to restore this function.

Thanks!

Try to upgrade your Macs to macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 and your iPhone to iOS 17.6.1. I just did a test with those 2 versions and the e-mail opens both on the Mac and the iPhone when clicked from Reminders.

Thanks so much for the response!

I just updated both Macs and the iPhone as above, and tried adding a new reminder from mail on the iPhone. Reminder appeared on my Mac with the mail icon, but clicking on the mail icon didn't open the mail message (app focus switches to Mail, but nothing else happens).

Very grateful if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks
