How to check the history o a phone brought from a third party

Hi. I got an 13 mini on Ebay as apple does not sell them anymore. the phone was listed as new and the package looked new.

however. The model number starts with M.

The phone came with iOS 17 wish was released sep 2023. For the warranty. It shows as expired as it has a sale date of June 2022.

I wonder how this could had happened? How I can get more history on the phone?

To begin with, it is not “new”. The only way to get a “new” iPhone is to buy it directly from Apple or an authorized retailer.

You can’t get any information as it the ‘history’ of the device.

You already know that it was originally sold in June of 2022. The warranty expired over a year ago.

If you’re unhappy with your purchase, return it (if you can) and get your money back.

The only explanation is that the phone is not actually new. Someone opened it previously.

Anyone can correct me if I am wrong but this phone would not have shipped with iOS 17 if it were new as they discontinued this model before iOS 17 even came out.

New to me means sealed in box and never opened or touched. This should've fallen under eBay's "used" or at the very least "open box" category.

I'd return it if possible for the simple fact that it is not "new".
