How to Protect Macbook Pro Screen

Hi,

I got my macbook pro 14" m3 pro yesterday, and the screen is already scratched and damaged after carefully closing it a single time. After I closed it I placed it back in the original box (so it was not carried in a backpack or anything that could apply pressure to the screen or backplate), and upon opening it today there was some scratches on the screen from some light dust particles that were apparently on the keyboard. Since you aren't supposed use screen protectors on macbook pros, how do you protect the screen from damage given that it seems to be made from the cheapest/most fragile material that gets damaged at the slightest touch?

Sorry to hear of your experience. I've owned many Macbooks for over a decade. I've traveled world-wide for business carrying Macs in a backpack. I've never experienced scratches on any screen. Are you positive these are scratches and not just dust?

As to how I protect the screen, I just check that there is nothing on the keyboard when I close the computer. If these are indeed scratches, take the computer to an authorized service center for examination. Or, you have 14 days to return the computer to Apple.

Yeah, I used a microfiber cloth and some distilled water to try and clean the area to see if it was debris/dust stuck on the screen but it seems to be damage to the actual screen or the antiglare coating. Now, it's not a huge long gash and it's just localized to a couple small spots. But it seems kind of insane given that the screen was closed a single time and placed back in it's original packaging and transported seperate from everything else. Ideally this was a computer that was supposed to last 4-5 years, closed thousands of times, get tossed in a backpack and bump into luggage at airports on international trips, etc. And there's already damage after some dust on a keyboard barely touching it. How is a screen on a nearly $3000 laptop this fragile? And how do I protect the screen from further damage?

Return it. Apple has a 14 day no questions return policy.
