Is my old XR out of date functionally?

I know it is only 4g but my wife has an iPhone 15 and when she can get in internet via cell signal I can't. In fact I can't get it a lot of the time these days. IS MY 4G SIGNAL GETTING PUSHED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STACK WHILE THE NETWORKS FAVOR THE 5G SIGNALS (LIKE MY WIFE)? HELP

iPhone XR, iOS 17

iPhone XR current iOS 17.6.1

5G was introduced with the iPhone 12 and up.

There is nothing wrong with 4G... verify or make changes to your Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Options

if you have an issue with your cellular you can reset Network settings

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings <—————————RESET

Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

if you still have an issue contact your Carrier, if they see an issue they can re-provision the device remotely
