Speak Body of Article never works! There is always a “problem”

Safari is my default browser (in case that’s relevant)

over many months, I have attempted on occasions to use the “speak body of article“ option and it has always said there was a problem. I can use other methods but they all require a bit more faffing about. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks.

Hi SimonCcc,

welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community!

Check to make sure have Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Speak Screen turned on.

If so, turn it off ... wait 20 secs or so ... turn it back on. Test to see if that restored order.

Else: see if things works better by going to above settings Tap Voices. And select a different voice.

You could try checking whether there is an iOS update waiting to be installed:

Eg: Look in Settings > General > Software updates.

(If so, it is wise to back-up your data, before updating.)

Try asking Siri. Say something like: “Hey Siri, Speak screen.”

All the best :-)
