Was my iPhone 11 Pro Max supposed to come with a USB-C to lightning cable?

I’ve been wanting a faster charging option in my car for my iPhone 11 Pro Max, but since I’m not well-versed in the technical details of power adapters and charging cables, I’ve been searching the web to learn more. I came across a few articles stating that the iPhone 11 Pro Max came with a USB-C to Lightning charging cable in the box; however, mine did not.

What am I missing?

The iPhone 11 came with a USB-A to lightning cable. Apple didn’t start shipping USB-C to lightning cables until the iPhone 12.

I think that depends on the actual release date of the iPhone 11 in question and the specific model type.

IPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max did ship with a Lightning to USB-C and power adapter as well as earpods at the beginning. At least mine did back in 2019.

The regular iPhone 11, may have come with a USB-A cable at first, but later releases, specially after the removal of the power adapter had a USB-C cable as shown in this 2020 unboxing video.

FWIW, On iPhone 11 Pro Max - Technical Specifications - Apple Support (CA) it says:

In the Box

    • iPhone with iOS 13
    • EarPods with Lightning Connector
    • USB-C to Lightning Cable
    • 18W USB-C Power Adapter
    • Documentation

The U.S. version says the same thing.

On the subject of charging, it says:

Power and Battery

    • Lasts up to 5 hours longer than iPhone XS Max
    • Video playback: Up to 20 hours
    • Video playback (streamed): Up to 12 hours
    • Audio playback: Up to 80 hours
    • 18W adapter included
    • Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery
    • Wireless charging (works with Qi chargers)
    • Charging via USB to computer system or power adapter
    • Fast-charge capable: Up to 50% charge in around 30 minuteswith 18W adapter or higher

I'm fairly certain that using a Type C/Lightning cable is no faster for charging than using a Type A/Lightning cable.
