There are dual copies of iTunes purchases and multiples copies of music albums after Sonoma upgrade

My recent upgrade to sonoma via a new macbook pro and iphone has led to my music library being a complete mess. I have too much music to change each file. Is there another application I could use that wouldn't give me these problems

Music on Catalina or higher is supposed to be able to open and convert existing iTunes libraries. In practice it seems to struggle with any library made prior to Mojave. Monterey tends to hang on import. I've been able to convert over 100 libraries for people when they haven't been able to manage the migration on their own. If you'd like to send me your old .itl file directly or via a link in some cloud service, then I'll try to mix yours for you. You can find my email address in my profile here.

If you don't have a copy of your original .itl then following might be of some use.

I upgraded from a 2009 MacBook Pro (running 10.9.5) to a new MacBook Pro (running 14,6,1), I also upgraded from an iPod to an iPhone 15 max pro. (I didn’t have a smart phone before this)

The new MacBook Pro won’t even mount the iPod - so I couldn’t transfer from there.

My music library was on an external drive as my old MacBook Pro didn’t have the enough to accommodate all my music.

Problems are:

Dual copies of iTunes purchases.

Multiple copies of albums, some containing single tracks.

No import of CD rips or digitalised vinyl.
