Message not sent Repeating on iPhone all the time

I tried to sent a photo to a friend that has an android phone and it failed. Now my iPhone constantly says Message to G. C not sent. I deleted the whole message thread and that did not work. I shut off message notifications under Messages or most of them and I am still getting that message.
