How do I get a verification code when signing into my Apple TV+ service on a Roku?

I have a new ROKU and when I try to log in to my Apple account to be able to watch Apple TV, I am asked for a username and password. I enter them and so far, so good. Then the login procedure tells me to enter the code that has been delivered to my devices. DEVICES? What devices? I check my email; nothing there. I check my message app; nothing there. Can someone tell me what devices the code is being sent to? Or an alternate way to get the code? To sign on to this community, I was allowed to tell the procedure to send the code to my phone number. That worked. I don't see that option on my ROKU.

If you have ‘trusted’ Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac) with the same Apple ID, then you would get a pop-up message there for the verification code.

If you have listed a ‘trusted’ phone number linked to your Apple ID, and no Apple devices as listed above, then you would get an SMS text message with the verification code.

You can request a new fresh verification code at any time on your trusted Apple devices.

You should be able to have a code resend to a trusted phone number via the “I didn’t receive a code?” option.

I didn't copy down

The code would be valid for a limited time. It is best to get a new code each time that it is requested.

I do not use Apple devices. But I did get into my Apple account and I added my phone number and Samsung device as "trusted" devices. I even changed my password while I was at it. So I tried again. I entered my Apple ID and new password and all seemed fine. Then I came to the six digit verification code process again. I did receive a code to my Messages app, and I entered it. Now I get "Couldn't Sign In. Wait a moment. Then try again." I'm not sure how long a moment is, but I tried again with no success. I don't have problems like this with other streaming devices. Why with Apple? Is there no wonder why I stay away from Apple products?

I’m sorry that you experience all these ‘road blocks’. I’m not sure why you got the "Couldn't Sign In. Wait a moment. Then try again." It should have gone more smoothly, afaik.

Could it be that the process took a long time? Perhaps something timed out?

The verification code request should be once (per device and app install and account), so when you get through, that should be it.

Else ask the staff for assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

This didn’t work

Please elaborate.

Is your issue for the Apple TV app on Roku as well?

Is your issue also about two-factor authentication?

Do you have an Apple device with the matching Apple Account on which to receive verification codes?

Is your Apple Account ‘trusted phone number’ up-to-date, on which to receive verification codes per SMS?

Have you asked the Apple Support staff for assistance? Or did you skip that?
