Library song files not found in my PC

My ITunes library on my Pc shows all song titles, albums and artists etc however when I go to play any song ITunes cannot find the file. I presume I have somehow lost those files. If I sync my iPad (which has bulk of my iTunes library) will my library on the PC be repopulated with the music files or will I lose my library on my iPad?

iPad, iPadOS 17

No.

You need to work out why the music is missing from your iTunes Library and then fix your library.

Are there exclamation marks next to the song titles? If so, that suggests that the files for the songs are no longer where they were when you added them to your iTunes Library. So have you moved, renamed or deleted the files for your music (in Windows Explorer) or has another programme done that?

Has the path to the files been altered? For example, oif the files are on an external drive, that drive must be on and ready to read, with the same drive letter as it had when you added the music to your library, before staring iTunes.
