How can I reset Apple Watch if I forgot the passcode?

I recently received a series 7 Apple Watch from my dad and am trying to erase it and pair it with my iPhone. However, it is passcode locked (he forgot it), unpaired with his iPhone, and not connected to his iCloud account. Because of this I am unable to reset it by any means, I’ve tried the side/digital crown button reset and going through both his Watch and FindMy Apps (it doesn’t appear). I can’t get past or around the passcode screen in order to reset it or do anything. Please help!

How to reset your Apple Watch if you forgot your passcode:

  1. Put your watch on its charger and keep it there until you complete these steps.
  2. Press and hold the side button until you see Power Off.
  3. Press and hold the Digital Crown until you see Erase all content and settings.
  4. Tap Reset, then tap Reset again to confirm.
  5. Wait for the process to finish, then set up your Apple Watch again. When asked, restore from a backup.

NOTE — Erasing all content and settings erases all media, data, and settings from your Apple Watch, but it does not remove Activation Lock. To remove Activation Lock, unpair the watch first. Before your watch is erased, a backup of its contents is created on your iPhone.

Try erasing all content and settings this way. Press and hold both the side button and digital crown, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo. Wait a few seconds, then hold down just the side button until you see the "erase all settings" prompt on the screen, then erase all your settings and pairing should work now. Remember, you can pair your Watch again with a backup.

If this doesn’t work, your Watch may be Activation Locked. If your Watch is activation locked, you will have to ask the original owner to remove it from their Apple ID in order for you to pair and use it.
