New MacBook Air heating up with normal use

New MacBook Air heating up with normal use. Is there an accessory that can be used to help alleviate heat build up in a MacBook Air? My MacBook seems to be heating up with just normal use. I just purchased this MacBook today.

Are you running any anti-virus software, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software? If so, then uninstall them by following the developer's instructions since these types of apps are not needed on a Mac and usually causes more problems than they solve because they interfere with the normal operation of macOS.

Your system may also still be configuring itself after the migration or restoration from a backup. Spotlight will definitely be indexing the system and if you have enabled any cloud file syncing services, then those will also be doing a lot of work.

And make sure all your third party apps are completely up to date.

How hot is hot? What is "normal use" for you? Is your "normal use" playing graphics intensive games? Or is it checking email and using word processing or spreadsheet applications?

Computers will get hotter with use and with charging. That is normal. Make sure that when you are using the computer, it's on a hard surface like a desk or table an not on your lap or a pillow. Soft surfaces can block airflow and cooling.

You can post the free EtreCheck report with the Additional Text option when posting. This will show processes that are running on startup that may be causing a conflict. In addition the report also show which ones are consuming the most resources. There is no information shown in the report and is commonly used as a first step in providing a complete picture of what may be going on with your Mac.
