How do I get rid of the AirDrop notification on the top of my iPhone display?

Yesterday, for the first time, I sent a pdf, and got a notice that the airdrop was received. This notice doesn’t want to go away. It’s sitting in the small, black window at the top.

How do I get it to go away?

Can you swipe on the message to make it go away?

You must be referring to the airdrop notification received at the top of the Dynamic Island, to remove this, try resetting your Network Settings. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Previously used networks and VPN settings are removed, which should get rid of the notification.

I did try to swipe it several times and nothing changed. About a day later I somehow swiped in a different direction and it went away. Not exactly my idea of intuitive.

Thanks for your reply. Had I not accidentally tried it in that one direction, it would not have looked like a solution. Which direction was the right one? Good question!
