Unable to achieve full resolution on Apple 30 inch Cinema Display with laptop

As per other question 2022 - I have Cinema 30 inch displays. Old - but excellent - screens. Now my laptops do not show more than a 1280 x 800 resolution on them. Open more options and that's the highest you can get. It's a software issue that happened after an Apple upgrade. Before then they worked fine.

One wonders whether it's Apple engineers wanting me to throw away my screens? I hope not. It would be good to have the facility to use the full resolution of the Cinema displays again off my laptops...

Can anybody out there let Apple engineers know and ask for the software to allow this to happen as before please?
