Erasing an old MacBook Pro that won't turn on before recycling

I have an old MacBook Pro that will not turn on and I would like to recycle, but before I do I want to make sure my information is deleted. I can't find any information that will erase a device if you can't turn get the device to turn on.

since it won't turn on, if it was me, I would simply open the case of the Mac and physically remove the drive. then bring it to the recycler's.

if needed, you can go to OWC’s website and search for the HDD replacement video for your specific MBP. from there you can identify and remove the HDD.
