MacBook Pro - slow and overheating
Hi, my MacBook Pro has become slow and laggy, occasionally getting quite hot to touch as well. I have run EtreCheck, results attached - thanks. Regards, Jeremy

Wow!
Back up everything before doing anything else! There are dark clouds on your SSD's horizon.
Your SSD is running at 1/10th or less of its nominal speeds. There is not a lot of free drive space but that is unfortunately normal for a 256GB drive any more. Still, use "About this Mac..." > Storage tab to see what is using the most space and manage it. Most of us can free up some storage if we take a look at utilization
Then remove all VPNs. The average user does not need them and they can do more harm than good including overheating and slowdowns Some are not even secure. Consumer Reports VPN white paper. If conditions of your employment require a VPN, you will be issued one compatible with your firm's IT systems.
Remove BitWarden. It's also fearware.
For some reason your battery is not happy considering the modest numbers of cycles:
Battery: Health = Service Battery - Cycle count = 250
Right now Apple still offered factory battery serviced for 2016 Macbook Pros. That could change as soon as next week when new products are announced.
If your SSD speed does not return to over 2000MB/sec after doing housekeeping, I recommend having Apple evaluate soon. Something is seriously amiss with those drive scores.

I contacted Apple Support and they suggested I create another User profile and see if I have the issues there. I ran EtreCheck on the newly created User. Would simply creating a new User profile see the SSD slow issue disappear? Thanks, Jeremy
Thanks Allan for the response.
