Why is my daughter's Apple Watch SE not showing her location?

I need help ! I bought my daughter an Apple Watch SE so I can track her location on find my. Apple told me that it would not be a problem. Her location doesn’t appear on people it only shows on devices and when I ask for location it puts it to her iPad. I went to Apple and they told me the Apple Watch find my won’t link to people but they didn’t even seem all that sure. Is this true? I saw YouTube video of people showing their kids under find my under people and not device. I’m getting frustrated as find my is not reliable under devices vs under people. Can someone help me

Your assertion appears incorrect, so hopefully this response will end your frustration.

When I read your assertion, I thought (incorrectly) that you were saying “Find My shows a different location for my daughter in Devices than in People.”

But actually, everything is consistent. Your daughter has her iPad set up at Settings > [her Apple ID] > Find My > Use This iPad as My Location. And indeed that’s the location you will see under “People”.

However the Apple Watch location appears under “Devices”. See especially “Locate a family member’s device“ here.

One more item to check:

On your daughter’s Apple Watch, go to Settings > [her name (near the top)] > [scroll down to] [her Apple Watch] > Find My Watch > Find My Network. This must be “on”.
