When you receive a message in Facebook Messenger saying something like “ sent a video,” and you go into Messenger to view the video, the video itself is not automatically downloaded to your iPhone’s storage. Instead, it is stored on Facebook’s servers, and you’re streaming the video when you view it.
How It Works:
1. Streaming from Facebook’s Servers: When you tap on the video in Messenger, it streams from Facebook’s servers to your iPhone. This means the video isn’t saved to your device’s storage unless you specifically download it.
2. Temporary Caching: While you are watching the video, your iPhone may temporarily cache parts of it in order to provide smoother playback. However, this cached data is not permanent and will be cleared over time.
3. Downloading Videos: If you want to save a video to your iPhone, you would need to manually download it. You can do this by long-pressing on the video in Messenger and selecting the option to save it to your device. Once downloaded, the video will be stored in your Photos app.
